Land Use Control Remedial Design Site 5, Naval Air Station (NAS) Fallon, NV.

For this task order, GCE developed a Land Use Control Remedial Design (LUCRD) for Site 5, a former disposal area found to contain ammunition.

GCE developed a Land Use Control Remedial Design (LUCRD) for Site 5, containing the following elements: Land Use Control (LUC) Performance Objectives; LUCs; LUC Monitoring, Reporting, Notices, Mitigation, and Enforcement; and Termination of LUCs. The northern area of Site 5 was discovered in 1986 during excavation for a utility line and contained abundant metal debris and several decayed 20-millimeter ammunition shells. The material was excavated and removed to the base landfill, and the shells were disposed of offsite by explosive ordnance detachment personnel. NAS Fallon submitted a Site 5 Ordnance Area Closure Document in May 2001 identifying the potential for limited shells to be present in the northern most east/west trench. Due to the waste material left in place, it was determined that a LUCRD was necessary to document Land Use Controls and achieve site closure.
