For this task order, GCE performed required long-term management (LTM), specifically, inspections and maintenance activities of Land Use Controls at three sites, in support of the environmental restoration program at Naval Amphibious Base, Naval Base Coronado (NBC), Coronado, California. An LTM Inspection Report was prepared at the conclusion of the inspections.
The purpose of this project was to perform required long-term management (LTM), specifically, inspections and maintenance activities, in support of the environmental restoration program at Naval Amphibious Base, Naval Base Coronado (NBC), Coronado, California. This scope of work addressed environmental restoration sites in the LTM phase. The Statement of Work (SOW) included monitoring and inspection activities at NAB Coronado Installation Restoration (IR) Sites 2/4 and 3, and Munitions Response Program (MRP) Site 5 in accordance with the respective sampling and analysis plans, operation and maintenance plans, land use control implementation plans, and development of technical reports and preparation of a site management plan in support of the NBC environmental restoration program.
GCE performed annual inspections at NAB IR Sites 2/4 and 3, and MRP Site 5. Current post-closure activities for NAB IR Sites 2/4 and 3 consist of annual inspections of the paved area to ensure the sites remain protective of human health. Post-closure activities for NAB Coronado MRP Site 5 consist of annual inspections of Delta Beach South and Delta Beach North to check for exposure of munitions due to erosion and effectiveness of safety signage previously installed at the site. GCE determined compliance with the NAB Coronado basewide Land Use Control Implementation Plan (LUCIP) and site-specific Land Use Control Remedial Designs (LUC RDs), which are included as appendices to the basewide document. Inspections were scheduled outside of the nesting season and performed in such a way to optimize mobilization costs.
GCE determined the general physical condition of the inspected sites and identified any significant issues regarding surface cover, slope, and drainage control facilities. Inspection activities were performed in accordance with the respective final post-closure maintenance plans and/or LUCIPs/LUC RDs.
