GCE performed LTM inspections for IR Sites 1 and 2 following the requirements identified in the Land Use Control Implementation Plan (LUCIP) and the Record of Decision (ROD). Site activities included visual inspections, erosion control. and one biological survey (wildlife and plants) in the areas of each site requiring land use controls. GCE noted whether the site’s success criteria continued to be met, as well as the effectiveness of erosion control measures being implemented at the site. GCE also coordinated with the appropriate Navy personnel to ensure the fieldwork did not negatively impact cultural/natural resources or base operations. An unexploded ordnance (UXO) technician accompanied GCE’s field team for visits to IR Site 1 due to historical presence of munitions in this restricted access area of the island.
