GCE was subcontracted to provide road improvements, specifically to grade, shape, moisture condition, and compact the approximately 3500-foot project site. The work included clearing and grubbing the existing vegetation. All debris/spoils were staged onsite, outside of the 120-foot runway width, but within 180 feet of work area. GCE provided rough compaction to balance the site of approximately 72,333 square yards, using onsite material. The balancing of material grades and conditions were performed to maintain positive drainage of 0.5% to 2% without impeding flows. GCE conducted the stabilization process (inject, blend, fine grade, and compact) by injecting premixed/diluted polymeric emulsion at a 4-inch to 6-inch depth. A sheep's foot roller was used to achieve initial compaction. Lastly, GCE’s graders were used to fine grade the maintaining positive drainage, and double steel drum rollers were used to achieve the final compaction.
