PGSS Aerostat Pad

Yuma Proving Ground (YPG), Yuma, AZ

As the Prime contractor, GCE was awarded a task order to relocate the Persistent Ground Surveillance Systems (PGSS) Aerostat site from North Cibola Alpha Pad to South Cibola West II Pad for Product Development Aerostat Persistent Surveillance Systems–Tethered consolidation effort of PGSS and Persistent Threat Detection System (PTDS). This project was developed to give additional space for the PGSS and PTDS test sites. The new location was graded so water would flow to the existing washes and drainage areas, and aggregate base course (ABC) was placed to build a solid base for the equipment. The new site required approximately 1 acre of clear and grub earthwork to accommodate mooring of a 24-meter long aerostat and Rapid Aerostat Initial Deployment (RAID)/PGSS tower.
